About Us
Hello, I’m Torraine Kennedy, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Haven and Horizon LLC. My journey into this work is rooted in both professional dedication and deeply personal experience. From an early age, I witnessed the powerful impact that support, compassion, and community can have on individuals and families during their most challenging times. Those experiences shaped my belief that healing is possible and with the right help, people can not only overcome hardship but grow stronger because of it.
With years of experience walking alongside individuals and families through grief, life transitions, mental health challenges, and relational struggles, I founded Haven and Horizon with a clear mission: to create a safe, welcoming space where people can begin the journey toward healing, hope, and growth. My practice is built on the belief that therapy is more than just talking it’s about transformation, empowerment, and building the tools you need to move forward.
At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to meeting clients exactly where they are. Every person’s story is unique, and I approach each client with compassion, curiosity, and respect. Whether I am supporting someone navigating anxiety or depression, guiding a family through complex dynamics, or helping a child or teen find their voice, my goal is always to walk alongside you never ahead of you, as we move toward your goals together.
I often describe healing as a ripple: when one person begins their journey toward wholeness, the effects extend far beyond them. The changes you make in therapy create waves that touch your family, your relationships, and even your community. That ripple is the heartbeat of Haven and Horizon because I believe that when one person heals, the world around them heals too.
In addition to individual and family therapy, my work focuses on supporting blended families, helping parents and children strengthen communication, and creating space for grief and loss to be processed in healthy, meaningful ways. My approach integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies.
While Haven and Horizon currently operates as a private pay practice, I am actively working toward credentialing with major insurance panels to expand access and make quality mental health care more widely available. This is part of my broader vision: to reduce barriers to care and ensure that healing, growth, and support are within reach for everyone who needs it.
My hope is that when you join your sessions you feel seen, heard, and valued. Your story matters here. Your healing matters here. And together, we can create a ripple that transforms not only your life, but the lives of those around you.
Welcome to Haven and Horizon where healing happens, growth begins, and hope expands.

FAQs
What is therapy?
Therapy is a collaborative and supportive process designed to help individuals, families, and groups navigate life’s challenges, improve mental and emotional well-being, and develop healthy coping strategies. It provides a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences while working toward meaningful growth and change.
How does telehealth work?
Telehealth allows you to attend therapy sessions virtually from the comfort of your home using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Once you schedule a session, you’ll receive a private link to connect with your therapist at your appointment time. Telehealth is an effective and convenient way to access care, and research shows that virtual therapy can be just as beneficial as in-person sessions.
Who can benefit from counseling?
Counseling is beneficial for anyone seeking support, growth, or healing. We work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and other mental health concerns, as well as families navigating communication challenges, blended family dynamics, and relational stress. What services do you offer?
How often will I need therapy sessions?
The frequency of sessions depends on your goals, needs, and preferences. Many clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and see progress, while others may choose biweekly or monthly appointments as they continue their work. We’ll regularly review your progress together and adjust the schedule to ensure therapy remains effective and supportive for you.
Yes. All sessions are completely confidential in accordance with HIPAA laws and ethical standards. Your information and what you share in therapy are protected, with only a few exceptions required by law — such as concerns of harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult. These exceptions will be explained during your intake process so you know exactly what to expect.
Do you accept insurance?
Haven and Horizon is currently a private pay practice, accepting cash and major credit cards. We are actively working toward credentialing with several major insurance panels to expand access to care. In the meantime, we are happy to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding your needs. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, review your background and goals, and begin developing a personalized plan for your care. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and get comfortable with the therapy process. Together, we’ll create a collaborative plan to support your healing and growth.
